DIA DE LOS MUERTOS
Day of the Dead is an annual Mexican holiday celebrated every year beginning on November 1. The multi-day holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died, and help support their spiritual journey. Working with the renowned Villalobos Brothers, three Mexican brothers who all are virtuoso violinists originally from the Mexican state of Veracruz, David documented the holiday festivities at the New York Botanical Gardens in the Bronx. The brothers were joined for an afternoon concert by many musicians, traditional dancers, and a troupe of performers on stilts, as well as fans dressed in traditional costumes. The energy was infectious as Ernesto Villalobos led a procession around the park.
